Make Up First ® is a makeup school specializing in print bridal theatrical media makeup in the Chicago land Illinois. We asked Jill Glaser, Chicago professional Makeup Artist, to talk about the school and the reasons why makeup lovers should choose to attempt this academy. Here is the answer!

Make Up First ®, (the “School”), founded in 2006 and located in the heart of the Chicago loop, provides the only art program in the entire Midwest for the training of makeup artists. It is Illinois state certified, and MAC approved.

Students become proficient in the art of Beauty, Media, Theatrical and Clinical makeup applications. The School also offers advanced level courses and workshops such as Airbrush Bridal Makeup, and many others.

The teachers at the School are all experts, and all currently work in their field of expertise. In addition to the staff, respected, established makeup artists, from both New York and Los Angeles, come to the School to offer special instruction through workshops and special events; the Academy Award winning Los Angeles makeup artist, Maurice Stein of Cinema Secrets, the five-time Emmy Award winning New York makeup artist, Eve Pearl, and other illustrious makeup artists have all appeared, and will continue to appear, to offer instruction at the School.

All products and materials used in the School are makeup-artist driven: Makeup Forever, Cinema Secrets, Eve Pearl and Paula Dorf, to name a few, are provided for the students at highly discounted rates. Once the students have completed a course or workshop at the School, they remain welcome to return to the School to “shop” and purchase their discounted kit supplies from the School.

Throughout the course of the program, as well as thereafter, students are invited to participate with the instructors in actual free-lance “gigs”, such as fashion shows, print/film shoots and television shows, to gain experience working in the field.

In addition, the School is instrumental in assisting the development of portfolio work. Professional photographers, together with top models and fashion designers are included within the Media Makeup and Advanced Media Makeup courses to ensure high-quality portfolio pieces for the students.

Make Up First ® students never really finish their education at the School; they become a community of working artists who continue to network, work with one another, and return to the School for on-going education.
